THE TANUKI PROJECT

Welcome to The Tanuki Project
The Tanuki Project was founded in 2015 by a collaborative group of environmentalists, biologists, and local strawberry farmers in the rural regions of the Shizuoka Prefecture.
After observing a decline in both Strawberry Tanuki populations and the health of strawberry fields due to habitat destruction and pesticide use The Tanuki Project was created to protect and re-populate the endangered Strawberry Tanukis, a subspecies of Japanese raccoon dog known for their unique Pink and white Fur.

Our Mission
Our mission is to protect, conserve, and repopulate Strawberry Tanukis, ensuring their survival for generations to come while promoting harmony between nature and agriculture.
We strive to:
Preserve Critical Habitats: Safeguard and restore the strawberry fields and surrounding ecosystems essential for the survival of Strawberry Tanukis.
Promote Biodiversity: Foster a thriving environment where wildlife and agriculture can coexist sustainably.
Educate and Inspire: Raise awareness about the ecological and cultural importance of Strawberry Tanukis in Japan.
Engage Communities: Empower local farmers and citizens to become active participants in conservation efforts.
Together, we aim to create a world where both Strawberry Tanukis and Japan's rich agricultural heritage flourish side by side.
